Creative Thursday

I have major issues with paying big bucks for commercial cards. Nothing wrong with buying more expensive cards from small sellers - but $4 or more for a Hallmarks card - I think not! So I like to keep a stock of card, in different colours if possible, and then when I need a card for an occasion I get out the scissor and my textas and go to town. Gives that present a personal touch, looks ultra cute and saves money!

Cute! I just bought some plain card yesterday and am planning to get the Munchkin to finger paint (or probably more like hand-smear - she's only 18 months) a Father's Day card for Eco-Chic-Daddy!

That is a great idea, and makes the gift that much nicer to. I just wish I had your creative touch!

Oh, this is lovely! I've often thought of making my own cards but have 'never gotten around to it' - I really should start doing some of those things!

Boy, I think I'd love half an hour in your craft room! :)

Can I ask a possibly stupid question?

I too like making my own cards, but can't really ever find good card stock at a cheap price. Where do you get yours from?

Actually, that's something I'd like to know too - about the card stock?

Well actually I used to work for a printing company so my current stock pile was free :D

After that is all used up I will see if I can order in some more from them. But other than that I don't know - I used to get all of mine from art stores - which isn't cheap!

I bought a single plain coloured card and matching envelope from Pepe's Paperie the other day. They have a website, which I haven't looked at: www.pepespaperie.com.au. Kikki K would probably also sell plain coloured card and paper. I can't comment on whether it was good value for card or not, as I don't know what it should cost, but it was much cheaper than a pre-printed card - my card and envelope cost $2.15

I love it when people give me personalized cards!
I try to make some when I have the time, but I also like to buy card packs made by local artists. Since they benefit the art community and still have unique style, I'm happy to spend a little more on them.
