So it has been a while - but Clive has been one very busy deer. You know, sending out his Christmas cards (for Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen - the whole gang), wrapping up presents, making a pudding for Christmas day - all that fun stuff. But now he is back with another tip for you all!
And this is a good one, have you ever come across a recipe that calls for cake flour? I mean, really, who ever has cake flour on hand? I know I certainly don't, and I also don't like forking out extra cash for a special flour that I barely use.
So what can you do instead? Well did you know that...

nice tip!! These help many people,if they don't ignore them!! One of my great tips, from Mrs.Sara Moulton,is when boiling potatoes, place a wooden spoon across the pan,if its just partly across,it will not boil over anymore.Have a nice day.
I've never heard of cake flour before! The companies who make th flours probably do the same thing as you but charge double the price!
Lovely illo's by the way!
I do this all the time with flour and cornstarch. Why buy a box of cake flour when already have what you need in your pantry? Great tip!
Thank you! I had no idea about that, and to be honest when a recipe called for Cake Flour, I would always skip it and find something else to make. I really think Clive should publish a book with all these tips in it! I know a lot of people who could benefit from his knowledge (myself included)
what?!?! i had no idea!!!!
Yes I have seen recipes that ask for cake flour, but had no idea what it meant, thanks for the tip :)

That's a great tip. I get so confused with flours. I never get the fancy stuff either. :)
