What is in a name?

Lately I have had a few people ask why I named my blog 'The Red Deer', and I think that is a fair enough question since it doesn't seem to have much to do with anything that I write about.

It all stems from our family name McCarthy. The coat of arms for McCarthy features a red stag with yellow antlers. From that I came up with Clive - The Red Deer while doodling one day and then The Red Deer blog was born.

So there you go. Wasn't that interesting?

On a similar note - how did you come up with the name for your blog?

I love polka dots! Well, pin-ups, too, so pin-uppy pola-dotty things are right up my alley :) I was working on coming up with the name for my blog (and possibly future store) when the general manager of my apartment complex offered up "Miss Dottie" as a possibility seeing as he always saw me in polka dots. We played around with the idea for a while and settled on Miss Dot :)

Oh interesting story! Mine's because I'm a coffee addict and once upon a time would have about 5-6 cups a day. And when I catch up with friends, I love to do so 'over cups of coffee' :)

Oh I had always wanted to know that too. Thanks for telling us.

I wanted to start a blog and couldn't really think of a name for awhile - then I thought about what I wanted more of in my life and I wanted more creative stuff! I love making stuff, could be anything. Also this magazine I got when I was in high school was called 'creative hands' and it was one of those series that you got from the newsagent each week for some rip off price and I begged my mum for it. I have folders of it at home - I must dig them out when I'm there next :)

I think that was a great story! I came up with my name, Thought Patterns, because my mind works in wierd ways sometimes :). It goes in unexpected or mostly predictable, sometimes exciting, sometimes boring patterns. :D Well, it seems like this was no story at all.

I have always wondered that! What a great story.

As for my blog, my motto was always (and still is) "Dare to Achieve" so I wanted something along those lines. I put my name in the title because I thought I was the only one who would be reading it and it was a place where I could track my dreams. Hence "Elissa is Achieving Her Dreams".

My blog title (I still can't tell which ones are weeds) came from the title of one of my prints a few years ago. It seemed to fit my blog well, since I was gardening a lot at the time. It still seems to fit even though I now mostly talk about printing - maybe because I'm still learning how to navigate through life and troubleshooting like crazy!
